Online Safety at Chesterton Primary

At Chesterton Primary, our online safety curriculum aims to effectively educate and empower both students and their parents/guardians. We send out weekly updates via the National College to our parents and staff to keep them up to date on current online safety initiatives. Additionally, these information leaflets provide parents and carers with up to date knowledge and information on apps, games and websites that young people are accessing. We aim to foster a safe and responsible digital environment by raising awareness about potential online risks, promoting best practices, and equipping our school community with practical tools and strategies to navigate the internet securely.

Parents / carers play a crucial role in ensuring their children understand the need to use the internet / mobile devices in an appropriate way. The school will take every opportunity to help parents understand these issues through newsletters, website and information about national / local online safety campaigns and literature, and workshops.

Parents and carers are encouraged to support the school in promoting good online safety practice and to follow guidelines on the appropriate use of:

  • Digital and video images taken at school events
  • Access to parents’ sections of the website and on-line student / pupil records
  • Their children’s personal devices in the school (where this is allowed)
